most unfavorite thing about geldings

I am very luck my gelding is easy to drop. All it takes is a curry for a few minutes and he is good to go. I just baby shampoo a wash cloth and scrub away! As for the bean, we are lucky he is a "slow developer". We has a cleaning a few weeks ago and he was polite enough to lift his leg - not to kick - but like a dog does to pee. Bean popped right out. He was very thankful and was "scratching" my back with his lips the whole time.

I think the horse's trust in you makes a big difference also. He has been known to make some pretty ugly faces at people just looking at his shealth. (He's an appy and we were watching for spots!) But, I have never had him bat an eyelash at me checking him out.

I bought the cleaning stuff before........... if you don't hose every bit off it can cause problems as I found out with my gelding.... or he had a bad reaction to it, still not sure? I use baby oil and squirt it down. Everything falls off pretty much on it's own, the rest is then easily wiped down. I thought baby oil would just cause more stuff to stick when I was first told about using it, but it works like a charm.

Both of my geldings are TERRIBLE when it comes to having this done... Which is fine with me cuz it's a good excuse to just have the vet do it twice a year. Worth every freakin penny

(Sing it to the tune of "Hello Mudda, Hello Fadda" from camp song )

How's it hangin'?
So much cleaner.
Aren't you glad I
washed your wiener?
I'll admit it's
kinda creepy
that I had to stick my arm up in your pee-pee.

It was sticky.
It was gunky.
It felt icky.
It smelled funky.
It was cruddy,
it was crusty--
when you stuck it out,
it creaked like it was rusty.

After half an
hour of toilin'
and of squirtin'
baby oil in,
you're as fresh there
as a daisy.
Either this means I love you or else I'm crazy!!!

I believe I've seen your Orange Horse story
For those who have not, could you link to it here?

I can relate to that story. The paint gelding I have has never dropped in human presence except during halter classes at a horse show. Then he make sure the world knows he has one.... But I have to go up after it to clean and I am fortunate he does not mind to much.

So you're really supposed to go up in there after it?? I mean..couldn't you just wait until he drops and smoothly move your hand around there with a warm, wet washcloth and call it good? OR do you actually HAVE to go up in there?

Why not just get a looksy for the bean instead of feeling it? I mean, can't you roll the end of the penis up and see the bean and then pick it out?

I'm lucky in that Max gets lots and LOTS of beans...yay us.

Yes sir thats how it is. DH said if he had to do that we would NOT have horses. Don't mind to much doing it but I have short arms so I have to stand real close to go fish. Hey what happens if you use the warming kind
