motion detecting battery light on coop to deter nighttime predators???

Two of my chickens have started sleeping out in a tree since the weather got warm and I'm wondering if they would be safer if I got a few motion-detecting lights to put out by the tree/run area so if a pedator comes into the area, perhaps the light going on will send them off? Do you think that might make a difference? Are racoons, skunks and other small time predators bothered by lights turning on?

It might deter them for a short time. Predators are smart animals and will learn it is no harm to them.
