You're just a rebel
More like stubborn .. i hate the way it makes me feel to wear it.. almost trapped or something.Hi all,
I wish they would make it if you CHOOSE NOT to use a helmet or seatbelt, YOU wave your right to any and all medical help and care. ( It can and does run over $100,000.00 a day for some of the medications and special equipment to keep a vegetable alive.) I have personally washed (gray matter) off the streets many times after a motorcycle accident with no helmet. And have also washed down (gray matter) from people thrown from cars and trucks. I have transported many people to the hospital that I knew the lights were on but nobody was home. Only to restock and go out the ER Entrance and have the kids or spouse ask when is Daddy or Mommie going to wakeup and come home. Breaks my heart a little more each time.
I also belive horseback riders should use an approved riding helmet. At least now minors in competition must use them. I will not let anybody ride any of my horses or on my property without a helmet. And all must sign a release.
I know most of you will not agree with what I said, but just think about it the next time you want to feel the freedom. Who is going to be in your kids life, just so you could feel the freedom.

X2Let me be clear, I never move my car without my seatbelt on an did even when I was exempt from the law but I dont think it is my place to tell someone else that they have to in there car any more than it is my place to tell someone else who they should marry or what church they should go to.
Why should i waive my rights for medical treatment? I have health insurance and trust me its not cheap..
Most have a 1 million dollar limit. You reach that in just 10 days. Then what your family is supposed to pay? Where is the money going to come from to pay your medical bills and long term care as a vegetable? Who is going to want to put their life on hold and be alone, because you are in a facility being kept alive on life support. (YES THIS DOES HAPPEN)
Now, Who is responsible for the care and monetary raising of any and all of your offspring? Do you really want them to live on the states dime and welfare system because they have half the income to grow on.

Of all the soapboxes to be on, this one is probably the wobbliest I've seen. You can't decide who lives and who dies. It's not your decision, whether you think it's selfish or not. Luckily for many of us, you have no say in other peoples life or death choices. Most have a 1 million dollar limit. You reach that in just 10 days. Then what your family is supposed to pay? Quote: I see your point, and it was well stated.
As for myself, I have a living will.
No life support, no machines to keep me alive, no long term care of any kind.... just pull the plug. I have given lots of thought to things like that seeing that I have lived through 3 heart attacks, an explosion, and lived a pretty rough and tumble life when I was younger.
I am just too much of a "small government" person I guess. I don't see a need for a law, I think it should be a personal choice to wear a helmet, a seat belt or even a parachute if I decide to jump out of a plane.
