Motorcycle Helmet Laws

Thats something I was talking about with someone the other day.... A 5 year old cant sit in the back of a truck, cant even be belted in to a car without special equipment but them on the back of a motorcycle, screaming down the highway held on by nothing is legal.
I'm a daredevil. I love big scary (to other people) thrill rides and riding my fourwheeler and stuff. But that would be horrifying. At least if you're the driver you feel like you have control. But i have seen people with little kids like this, no helmet, swerving around cars on the interstate at 70 mph.....ridiculus. I never ride as a passenger on atvs and never have a passenger unless we are going extremely slow. To risky and to easy to flip. Let alone two wheels at high speed

I have lived in 2 states... New York requires a helmet. I always had mine on, but I also had full gear. Gloves, armored jacket and Draggin jeans.... Hot and uncomfortable.... and if I went down I could still break my neck, back, arm... you get the idea.

Texas does not require a helmet if you have taken the required safety course (which I took in NY).
I have a helmet, yes. Do I wear it all the time? No. I do have full leathers and gloves and whatnot. Do I wear them all the time? No. My choice. I can still break my neck or back and be dead.

I have seen the results of those who wore a helmet cause it was law but then wear shorts, tank top and flip flops.... yes cheap walmart flip flops..... I've seen the bodies. Massive road rash, infection and often death... but the head was intact!

Information and education of the public and enforcing the laws about driving distractions would lower motorcycle accidents since a good part of them are caused by cars not looking around them as they should. And there really needs to be a distinction between "crotch rocket" and "cruiser" crashes. The sport bike riders tend to be more dangerous and aggresive!
