He picked a chicken up by the narrow spot where her wings meet the body, but he didn't hurt her

and when it's time to put them up he literally catches them.

My dog Posy would play with the chickens and picked up one of my d'Uccles and carried her around in her mouth for a little while, my mom caught her with it and gave her a good scolding. The hen fortunately was not injured, a little traumatized though.
