I heard on a different website that bears are usually attracted to coops and barns because of their feed. Do you have it stored near the coop or somewhere close? I've never had experience with bears, I was just reading.
Thanks friend! And you're right! They went straight for the feed stored next to the coop.

So, I need to either find another place to store it or add more locks! LOL

so first of all i have a very different set up then most people. My chickens are in an old dog run and there is no top. I have a small coop that looks like this pic except the roof comes off it and
instead of sleeping inside the perch on the roof. I also have my duck run right next to the chicken run. there is also a owl hanging around I named Mr. Bossy and we have a lot of coyotes. I have seven chickens and they are BFF's with my ducks i also have separate nesting boxes in random places around the run.

so if you know that the story won't be so confusing.

Ok so here's what happened was i had move the coop to clean it and i took off the roof and forgot to put it back on after i moved the coop. so that night I remembered i didn't put the roof back on so i go to the chicken run to put it back on. But when i go in i only see 2 of my birds sitting on the wall of the coop so assumed the rest where in the coop. So i looked in the coop and only saw 2 more bird in the coop. so if you do the math, i was missing 3 hens.

by then i was freaking out. So i go to look in the nesting box and i only saw 1 bird in them so i was still missing 2. By this time i assumed Mr. Bossy had gotten them. So i go to get the roof of the coop and when i go to grab it i hear that weird chicken coo above me. I looked up and my fattest bird was sitting on top of the fence! i grabbed her and shoved her in the coop and put the roof back on. Then i go to see if the other bird had sat on the fence and she wasn't there so i go to look in the duck run. The hen wasn't there so i assumed she was dead and i would go look for her body tomorrow, i go back to the nesting boxes and i grab the hen to put her in the coop. I grab her and when i get her out of the nesting box, the hen i was missing was in very back hiding behind the other hen!

i was crying by that point so finding all my birds was a huge blessing.
