That's not weird. My brother is like that too.
I personally concentrate things better if they're in color, which is why my Bible as well as other books are literally painted with highlights.

My brother has a ton of highlights in his paper bible too, but I just can't bring myself to doanythig but light pencil marks and sticky tabs in mine
