Does he have a chip? If so, you should be fine, if not I would get a new one. It's also nice to have them for when the dog dies. I still have griz's tags and collar.

My worry is not that he will run off, but since you own a lodge, it is more likely someone will take him. If he jumps out of that person's car and get's lost, then someone can help him get home.

All my dogs (Apart from Chloe) have chips. It's nice because no one can take off the collar and be like "Oh this is my dog" when you scan them XD

My dog Goliath has tags because he runs off sometimes but he's never actually needed them but it's always better to be safe then sorry,my two chihuahuas don't though because they are mostly inside dogs.G spends 99% of his time outdoors he hates the indoors.
