Unless your dog will kill it, that wouldn't be a good idea. The fox could fight back and hurt your dog too. I'd say you should kill it by shooting it, but you live in Australia...

Yeah...when the fox is caught, put a board over the top, slide a hose in, and turn it on. Make sure the fox doesn't get out. That should work.
