 I  don't remember it ever being that cold on Christmas.

What's your guy's usual Christmas temps? 28 degrees is actually really warm for up here. The coldest it's ever been on Christmas Day within my lifetime was -6, and the coldest it's ever been on Christmas Eve within my lifetime was -13.
