The pigeon freaked out, the bandage slipped, now it doesn't even sit up right. I'll be surprised if it makes it until the morning. :hit
This has upset me so much. It's like every time we try, no matter how hard we try, we always fail. It's horrible.

I hate it so much - people just dumping sick animals on us. Sure, it's a nice gesture, but they should take it to professionals who can give them more of a chance than we can.
We don't have medicine, or cages, or food, or any medical experience. We barely have transport. Although we try as hard as we can, we just can't do what a vet can. :(

Birds are very fragile. We rescued a wren from our chimney once, his feathers were all singed. We went to the vets and they said they'd treat him for free but when we got there he had died. My guess is that he had a heart attack due to stress :( Sorry :hugs

Awww that's too bad

Sorry about Scruff Shannon, nothing good comes from a pets loss. But. The way I look at it, you give an animal a good place to live it's life out, and you love that animal, and they learn to love you (or at least tolerate) you too, and when it's time to go, you can give the same opportunity to another animal.

We tried to get the pigeon to a rescue, but it's still full. So, we've learned how to feed it properly, and give it a drink. Hopefully that'll keep it going until tomorrow - when we can get it to the vets.
I'm going to make sure it doesn't get put to sleep unless it absolutely has to.

Oh that's great! I had a baby wood pigeon once, feed it soaked cat food. He lasted until a heat wave.... :( I think he was sick to begin with though.
