Hi

I have a 9 wk old white leghorn with a swollen lower beak. It looks like she cut the inside of her mouth and it is now infected. I'm not sure what to use on her. I have Tylan, Pro-pen-G and Bio-mycin(goat meds). Could someone tell a dosage for a chick. These are all injectables.

Thanks
Susan

Can anyone help?

I don't know the dosages for meds since I rarely ever use them. Is it just the one chick with the swolen beak? Or is the neck area swollen too? Do you have a pic? Of course you can see your bird best, but it would be good to see to make sure there is not something other than just an infection going on with the bird. Best of luck.

If it is abscessed you may have to express the contents of that manually...not sure on the beak and how inflammation works in that area though.
You can get a topical antibiotic creme and put that on it... a pic would indeed be helpful.
