Moving chicks outside

When is the earliest I can move my chicks outside? They are about a week old. I have ducklings as well that are about the same age and am wondering about them also. They are in bins in my downstairs bathroom and even with daily cleanings obviously they still have an odour. They are also starting to jump out of their bin. I have nothing bigger to put them in. Would it be okay to pt them outside during the day (with supervision of course) and bring them in at night?

Recommended temps for chicks is week1: 95 Week 2: 90 Week 3: 85 and so on...decreasing by 5 degrees each week. Once they are fully feathered they can handle slightly lower temps (4-6 wks) without issue.

Where are you located? That makes a huge difference as to your decision. Truthfully, my 2 weeks olds are not handling the "standard recommended heat" very well this time around and I am seriously contemplating putting them outside for a test run. I am in NW Ohio, an hour away from the Canadian border and I swear they are seriously chirping at me to turn down the heat already. Probably depends on breed also.

I have found that "standard operating procedure", when it comes to chickens, is just a suggestion. Give it a go and if they are too cold, they will most certainly let you know!

I'm in Ontario and lately it's been nice and hot out. I know it would be early just thought they might like the room. I think I might try it after the weekend since its supposed to be rainy and my man has to build the coop. Thanks for your inputs. I'm hoping they enjoy it out there so it's less smell in the house lol.
