Loving reading this. So inspiring. Thanks for sharing the pics and your progress! I will be cheering you on. I have to say though I am rather envious of you having that huge building to work with. But not envious of all the work to make it the way you want.
Today we got 4 of the 5 pop doors partially framed as well as the one "blank" for the turkey pen. The rest of the pieces needed are measured and mark but we ran out of batteries. I need one more battery.
My granddaughter took on the job of bringing me screws... each one carefully hand selected. While very cute, it did slow us down some. I wasn't about to say anything as she was so proud to be helping.
I do have a structural question:
The building has these cross braces, two on each side wall back and front. Backs going this way fronts going the opposite.
I am guessing that these are intended to keep the building from falling forward or backward when completely free standing.
This building is bolted to a 5' high 8-12" thick concrete retaining wall along the whole back side.
I want to remove just this one.
My question is, since it is bolted down in the back and I will be bolting the pop door frames between the up rights along the whole side, Will it still be sound?
I am guessing yes, but there is a lot I don't know.

Just in case it is important, can you transfer the cross piece to the top of the frame rather than having it on the bottom? I assume you have a metal bar going across the top as well?

So, as of this evening, we have all the pop door inserts and the two back window inserts completely framed and ready for hardware cloth and wood. Once the wire is on they will be ready to install. The ply wood will be screwed on once they are in place.
It's funny how it doesn't feel like we've done much because these pieces are small, but each one had to be custom measured and cut to fit it's corresponding location. That and the fact that my daughter and I had to work out our "system".
I think the interior walls will go much more quickly.

Was wondering about the pop door framing being a foot(?) off floor, will you have to remove more siding?

To answer your question aart (I hope) The pop doors will sit like this. and the opening will be 12" w x 14" h. The 1' below is to contain the bedding. I had to build the frames a bit taller than the bottom of the tin because of the way it is ribbed. There is a deep rib at the bottom of the panel that would be deformed if I tried to screw into it. So from the bottom of the pop door to the bottom of the tin is 14". Except for the turkey pen which goes to the bottom of the frame and is 12" x 24" I will have to build a box to hold the bedding back and the turkeys will have to hop down, go through the door then hop up into the run. Hope they are smart enough.
I stil have to attach the angle iron, actually aluminum, that will act as the door guides before I can fix the panels in place.

Yes, I see now, lack of middle horizontal in previous pics threw me and the 14" dimension given puts thing in perspective/scale, thanks.
