Hi everyone. we are leaving next weekend to move from Oregon to Kentucky and traveling with 20+ chickens, 11 ducks, a 10 lb ChiChi menace and a goofy great Pyr X 1 year old pup. Was wondering if anyone along our route would be available for us to contact in the event of an emergency. Our birds will be in travel crates, a tractor and 2 small coops. We will be travelling with plenty of food and supplies for the critters. Our intended departure date is March 27th or 28th. This is our intended route

From Cave Junction Oregon over to Lakeview Oregon then

down to Winnemucca, Nevada where we will pick up I-80 across to outside Lincoln Nebraska and pick up I-29 South to

Kansas City, MO and picking up I-70 to St. Louis, MO then pick up I-64 and

heading to Louisville, Kentucky and I-75 to our new home in Sadieville, Kentucky

So, if anyone is along that route or close and interested in being an available stopping point or emergency contact if we have trouble with the u-haul, give me a shout here or send me a PM this week.

We are hoping for and anticipating smooth driving all the way there but it would be nice to know if we run into trouble, there are some BYCers along the way where we could at least get a hand or a place to temporarily off load the birds' crates if the trouble is with the u-haul.

Also, weather updates on the forecast closer to the weekend, would be greatly appreciated.

Keep us in your prayers all...we are going to switch drive straight through and get there as soon as possible as we have our feathered kids with us. We anticipate the 43 hour drive taking us 48 - 50 hours with stops to gas up, feed and water the birds and walk the dogs....and maybe eat along the way too. hahahaha

I'm too far south to be of any help. Just wanted to say good luck, and have a safe trip! I go to Lexington a few times a year- Kentucky is beautiful

I am too far south as well, but wanted to say good luck, have fun, and God be with you on your journey. Sounds exciting. and YES Kentucky is a beautiful state.

For a moment I thought maybe you heading towards Hoptown.

I'm about 90 minutes southeast of Mount Vernon, Illinois. Alas, I will be in Klamath Falls, OR unless you make it to Illinois by Sunday.

The plains and Wyoming can still get some wicked snow storms this time of year. If you have a laptop with wireless you can find hotspots at motels, truckstops, and fast food places. That can help with the weather forecast.

Welcome to KY! I live just south of Owensboro, which isn't too far off your route, but once you've gotten this far, you're nearly there! We moved here about 1 1/2 years ago from the Louisville area, and I grew up in Florence, which is straight up 75 from Sadieville (I had to check a map to see where Sadieville is). Let me know if you'd like our contact info. I hope all goes well, and you have a great trip!

Thanks for the warm wishes everyone....keep us in your prayers.

DacJohns - heck no...Hoptown is 4+ hours from us and that is where my MIL & FIL are (Pembroke) which is why we are NORTH of Lexington. Dang I was hoping to pack this laptop...LOL Guess it goes behind the seat in the u-haul. And say NO word that even sounds like SNOW...not until after April 1st. ssssssshhhhhhhhhhhhh

kychicks - thanks so much for that...would love contact info because I am gonna be one confused lost pup out of my mountains and comfort zone. I will be driving past you to pay the electric bill....Owen Electric. LOL

I thought I might be, but I am just a little to the north of your route. It will be great to have you in the neighborhood. Kentucky has some beautiful country and friendly residents.

I'm too far north to help - but I wanted to wish you well on your trip! Moving with animals is always an adventure, just remember that no matter what it seems like, you will in fact eventually reach your destination.

We used walkie talkies when we moved up to here, it was a fantastic way to stay in communication and entertained.
