I see saddle feathers coming out, that's how I know. His comb is practically non existent. It is strange not to see one at this age, but I have seen very small pea combs in some lines of Ameraucana.

oh... I was thinking hen in general, but its tail feathers could be either... saddles usually what I go by.

No, I have never shipped live birds. Don't know if it's even wise to try this time of the year, too hot. But, thanks!

Do you pic him up and hold him? Is he very much a pet? We have 12 ladies out here but all are very friendly. I have kids so I would want a lover

I pick him up whenever I tend to them. He was very calm for pics. He's still young enough to make a good pet. There is no pecking involved if that's what you are asking. He doesn't do that. Right now, he hangs with three other pullets he grew up with. They are all now with the month older pullets in the same pen. The last few days have been rough on them all because they are all having contact with each other after just looking at each other through the fence. I'm too worried about him to put him in with the month older cockerals. He would be the new kid on the block there and I think that would be very stressful to be with those older males. Pecking order and all that.

Is anyone interested in taking Mr.Bobblehead? I hate to have to cull him, he is a nice boy and pretty. There is simply no room for him here. I can't leave him with the pullets because I can't take the chance of him breeding them. I can't put him with the cockerals, because that would only be temporary and he would be picked on. All those cockerals will eventually be sold or used in breeding and the pen will be emptied for raising next year. Husband is having major surgery in about two weeks, and will have a long recovery, so whatever is going to happen to him will happen before then. It's time for me to get rid of what I can't keep. Like I said, he is holdable, isn't squawky, doesn't peck, etc.
