Mr Speckles project eggs hatched!

22 out of 24 eggs hatched from our F1 large fowl jubilee project. I'm not sure if the remaining 2 eggs will hatch, but I left them in just in case. Here are some pics from just moving them to the brooder.

I also have bantam orp project eggs hatching. 2 babies so far and I still see pips, so I'll post pics when I move them to the brooder.

Congrats on such a great hatch rate and on such a great project. I am really looking forward to the results. It will be interesting to see if they show signs of "speckling" like the reverse cross that I hatched.

(Note to self- check on that chick and see how color is progressing.)

I can't wait either. The first run could be straight black, but we won't know for sure if they have mottling until they start feathering in I believe. If we don't get mottling on these, I may just use our other mottled pullets with him to produce the desired effect. Thanks everyone for your nice comments.

We're up to 3 bantam babies, but I probably won't get their pics until later tonight or tomorrow morning.
