Mt Hope, Ohio Swap This Weekend

OMG I think Iam still jetlagged.LOL
Yes,the inspectors were there asking for papers on Sat. I need to check into that. He said he would be sending someone over to check my birds. I told him OK and they never came back.I told DH I wasnt gonna have anything left If they didnt come soon. I sold almost everything I took.
I am thinking about July have to see what I can take. Iam just wore out but we Had a ball.I was set up across from a baby Camel That cried all day for his momma. It broke my heart.
I bought some white silkies and a Cool looking Muscovy duck .Shes Barred.

omg I must have walked by your booth a gazillion times and didn't know it was you! I talked to the guy selling that baby camel - poor thing was only 5 days old and they were selling him for $2500!!!!!!!!!!!!

You weren't the one there next to the camel with the snakes were you? If you were, I'm the one who was freaking out about the girl holding a snake - I backed away and didn't even look at any of the chickens at that set up!

It's nice that members can talk to eachother before going to the swap meet.....it would definitely make me more comfortable buying chickens or chicks from someone I knew. I was just kind of afraid to buy, I guess.

I did see your BLRW pair! Didn't ask about them though because I am kind of at my chicken limit...don't want my ladies to be too crowded. Sure wish I had more room.

I did buy a nice pen from an Amish fellow. It was wood, and wire--very nicely made, and bottomless so you can let your chicks graze outside. They can get fresh air and sunshine and still be contained.

And I bough a crate for $2.00. I'll use that as a nesting box.

Maybe next time we can do something and get in touch....that would be fun.

I thought about hanging a sign at my booth. It would be secret code.LOL

Only members would know what it meant.

Hey All... I was there Friday kinda late to check things out. I came back Saturday around 1pm, and was slim pickings. LOL I was really impressed how well it went for everyone. I brought my white silkies and partridge silkies on Saturday, and sold them all! I also sold a show quality pair of Spangle OE's. I didnt take much back home, for getting there kinda late. I was surprised. Wish i had gotten there earlier and met everyone! OH... i did get a Quad of Gold Brabanters from the ladies with the horsetrailer... you are right Becca...they are super nice! I got 2 eggs on Saturday from them, and another egg yesterday and today. I am looking for some more if anyone has some... whether want to trade hatching eggs or chicks. I would also like a start in the creams if anyone is willing to share! Francie

And I've got four cream brabanter chicks, but I am not sure of the sex yet. They're 7 weeks old. I hatched them in my incy. I'm not real sure if I want to keep them. I also might have an extra rooster.....If you're in the Strasburg Ohio area, you're welcome to stop by and see them anytime.

Becca, you too.....I still am not sure about keeping them or re-homing them. Does anybody have any tips as to tell males from females? I still can't tell...I'm guessing that I have two boys and two girls, then I think no.....three cockerels and a pullet......AHHHH!

I really wasn't sure about sex until around their laying age.

I sold off some in the fall and kept a trio, which ended up being 2 roos and a hen.

So, I wouldn't rush to judge.
