Mt Hope

They had tons of peacocks last year (September?). And some really nice people. I went to get a pair of bantam cochins and ended up getting 3 peas. Just because they were so pretty. I have no self control and am trying to convince myself not to go back.

Just checked,,361 miles,,$4.00 a gallon gas by then,,13.5 mgp,,722 miles round trip,,53.5 gallons,,$214 gas,,,how many peacocks are normally therre for sale anyway?? Hate to spend the time and money only to see 30 pairs of India Blues for sale at $300 a pair.

I expected low prices, but those are crazy low!!!

It all depends on whose buying and whose selling. I mis spoke before, I was there in 2010. To me, its worth the drive just to see them, except I can't find anyone I can depend on to sit on my hands. If I had a lake, and could have gotten them a ride back to MI, I would have come home with swans as well. Its a terrible place for bird lovers. They had a pair of crested guineas also. OMG, now I want to go.

SPRING sell will have alot more birds...like 5 times more. prices will be higher too.

last spring i saw a guy buy 34 full train peacocks....just to be mounted.

sale starts on thursday ,peafowl and wild waterfowl and phesants.....goes till 9 pm ,still will have birds to sale ,start with them on Friday AM

French......in the past i alway came home with a truck load.

(mistreated, wounded, sick). That being said, the auction is a really fun time with lots of birds to look at (yes many more healthy ones too

) and we'll be there all three days. Probably see us with Deerman during Peafowl days. Keep telling myself be selective, not overboard...I only have so much room in the van.

Last year came home with a bunch in the spring. Friday if was like last year will have one or two maybe three trailers of birds left to sell. Lots will sell Thursday, more by far than Friday. Friday is whats left and then fencing, caging, misc. stuff auctioning off in the morning. Lots of cool animals to see, bison, elk, moose, various deer, emu's camels, zebras, kangaroos...Never know what will be there. Will take the kids to see them one day during the last two days of the auction.

Deerman,,if I went the average prices would be higher for sure,,it would be interesting in what the HIGHEST selling birds sold for, instead of the "average" of all birds. If I locate a breeding aged Purple B/S with double white eye gene,,I won't need to buy anything.I got a Midnight B/S that is from Hopkins so I know he is what is said to be,, and he has 2 Silver Pied B/S hens for my charcoal male, one is Silver pied B/S,and one is Dark Pied B/S,plus my 2 silver pied hens at home for him,,,I just need the Purple male now,,and I'm looking all over for the one I want.
