I loath hunters who just take the antlers or a single choice piece of meat and leave the rest to rot. Seriously, what a complete waste. Here in Michigan a deer can be donated to food banks. So at least hunters who just want the antlers can feed people if they aren't lazy slugs who don't want to drop the deer off.

Stacy, I think most states have that program now, to donate deer to the food banks. I know that WV, AR, and FL do!

I loathe people who shoot just for a trophy or single slice of meat and leave the rest. It's so wasteful. We've come across more than 1 deer with gone but the head. I brought home a HUGE buck for the dogs a couple years ago. The "hunter" (and I use the term loosely!) had pulled the deer to the side of the road and just taken the head. The deer was still warm and bleeding when we drove past! I wasn't brave enough to eat it myself, though the meat was definitely fresh. The dogs loved it though!
