Mucus and white lesions in mouth, please help

Thank you @casportpony and @Wyorp Rock.

The Bayril I have is 5% injectable. I have seen other posts about dosage for 10% Baytril but not the 5%.

He is 10 pounds.

Please if you have the time, could you advise me on the dose to give orally and also the dose for the metronidazole.

I really appreciate your time to reply to me.

The tablets I have contain 30mg of metronidazole.

The dosage advice on the box is 1 tablet per 500g weight for 3-5 consecutive days.

@casportpony would you agree with that?
The amount I've been told to give has varied from 14 mg per pound once a day for five days to 23 mg per pound twice a day for two or more weeks.

Does that help?

@casportpony the bayril dose does help, thank you! Thank you for working it out for me.

Goodness that is a wide range for the metronidazole dose.

If I go with the dose on the box, that would mean 9 pills a day! Why does he have to be so heavy!

Maybe I should go with the upper dose as he is quite sick?

And how do I give him the pills? Cut them up and pop them in his mouth for him to swallow?

Hi think with so many pills I might crush them, add water, then syringe the liquid.

That is a great idea. I’m about to start putting my chickens to bed now so will get everything ready for him and start the medications tonight. He is not going to like me at all.

@casportpony How quickly should I see an improvement if the medicines work?
And how long should I give the baytril for? I’ve never given a chicken antibiotics before.

I really am so grateful for all your help. I’ve been feeling so confused as to what to do for him.
