Gotta be careful those kiddie pools are a drowning hazard. If you provided a ladder they could have gotten out and not drowned. Hindsight is always 20/20 though. Maybe next time.

I never gave them a pre-process bath. Just dunk in the scalding water, pluck & gut.

I am just too cheap, so my guys get to live another week lots of times! I only process on Tuesdays, right before the trash pickup.
We had a couple last year that rivaled our bb Turks in size!!!!He is helping, that's a good thing. I have weighed all the parts in baggies just to get an idea of what they were. I am sure they are huge! I kept a couple of the biggest to roast like small turkeys, I like them better than turkey.
I have had some that I kept longer like you, they were 10 pounds dressed, a very nice Thanksgiving one year. Maybe next year, I am just re-starting after a long lay off from raising chickens. We did ducks this year, it is enough. What do you marinate and brine yours in??? We’ve done Peking and alorange….we just smoked/rotisseried this last one and all were delicious! Haven’t tried frying yet but I want to!!!Ha!
