muddy run

I put sand down in my MUDDY run and it was great ! Didnt all wash away and my run now drains nicely. I put a decent layer though of about 2 inches. I had wood chips but they got
kicked around too much by the chickens and were mucky. I know some places give you free sand .. might want to see if anywhere around you does that. I think here it's the county that does it in case people have flooding... which you do.. it's just in a chicken coop!

mulch or wood chips is the way to go, alot of times you can get them free from tree trimmers. I find it very handy to keep a large pile on hand all year around so when stuff like three days of rain happens I have them.

If the rain ever quits I will be mulching tomorrow. Don't you love spring you suffer through how many months of winter just to deal with two months of mud.
