Muscovy Duck - Egg Membrane Day 42

Good pics. I'm really at a loss here. It doesn't look quite as full as I would have expected for this late in the game. I guess I keep thinking Momma knows what she's doing. If they are still moving, something must be working.

They do look small hey? The one I candled today looked like the beak was in the middle of the egg, I could see it clearly as the egg was a bit see through with the veins showing and the beak was about 3mm below the air sac line. Wonder if the duck mated with her and she has small babies or something. Her eggs are quite big. But it is the first time I saw Muscovy eggs so it might be normal also.

A duck mate could be a possibility, although I'm not sure that would make them much smaller. Is the air cell still tight up around the fat end, or drooped down now? I can't tell for sure if what I am seeing is the actual air cell or if its the reflection off the flashlight. Is there still fluid above the baby, up to the air cell?

This is a screen shot from a video I took of one of my ducks. Notice how the air cell curves, and there is already a pip in the shell, on the lowest pencil line.

The air cell was curved like yours but almost all of them has dropped to more like a level. What you are seeing in my pick is the actual air cell, not the reflection. and when I tilt it a little to the sides, the sack inside moves over the air cell line so it looks like it is loose inside. Not sure if it should be. The sack goes over the air cell line about 3mm

I honestly think it looks like they have another day or two to go. I'm seriously at a loss here. I hope something happens for you, and hope you will keep me posted.

Nothing Yet. They are still alive but not in the air cell yet. I spoke to a lady last week and was so excited and told her that my muscovys needs to be out on Tuesday then it would be 35 days and she said no muscovys takes 41 and I said no its 35 and she said again, she has muscovys and it takes 41 days. Maybe our humidity or something is different in South Africa then. I'm not that stressed anymore, I saw red veins in the one egg, its like they are becoming more see through, maybe as the liquid is getting absorbed or something, so I see the red veins and they are still thick but the babies are moving so.... who knows. Today was day 39. Will update you tomorrow.

How were they incubated? Hen? Still air? Forced air? What temp? what humidity? Why are they on shavings?
