Muscovy Duck - Egg Membrane Day 42

I also think they progressed at least. They are up high in the egg and the air cell line looks like it is not that dark anymore. I did put the cold egg back under her. The one in the pick today was a warm egg and there was about 5 babies that was still moving. I'm going home in about two hours then I'll see how things are going. Hopefully we have a pip tonight (Day 41) I did read somewhere else of other people hatching muscovys on day 40 and I feel positive because they are alive and kicking and they look strong (moving allot)

Good, my fingers have been crossed for you! I want to see pics of the ducklings!!

I broke a piece of the egg open in the air cell to take a video. Does this look ok or is this what you meant with Shrink wrapped?

Oh my goodness... I saw movement in that first video! Yes??? They do appear to be shrinkwrapped. Normally that smothers them. I would dampen that membrane immediately. (Q-tip, or the tip of your finger in warm water) The veins still look strong, so I'd be afraid to break into the membrane just yet. But you do not want that membrane drying out any more.

@casportpony Kathy, help!!

I agree, they look very shrink wrapped. What I do when they look like that is dropper warm, distilled water on them, slosh it around and pour off excess., but only do this if they have not pipped internally. Veins are way too big, so don't touch them.

I opened the membrane and pulled his little head out of the sac just so that he can start breathing and then I put selotape over the hole again so that he can still get some humidity in the egg. I didn't know what to do with him. He is alive still. I left him under mom. It is now 21h00 so will have to see in the morning. There was a small amount of blood, not much. Here is the pick

Why would the veins be so big? Its day 41. This is a very big puzzle to me. Unless that mother was more off the nest than what I thought. I didn't know how it is supposed to look. So tomorrow I'll do the other eggs like you said. And the sac was loose so will the other babies be able to break through?

Get more water on the membrane. Some peafowl people use antibiotic ointment and they say that will keep them moist looking, but I have not tried that.

That would be my guess.
