Muscovy Duck - Egg Membrane Day 42

Yes, that's the only reason I can think of for them to be so delayed... was she must have been off the nest more than you saw. I think I would also leave the tape off, but definitely don't cut off his air supply. I've also heard of using ointment, but I haven't tried that either. Just make sure if you try it, that its the kind without pain killer in it.

I'll rather just do water tomorrow. Oi and now I tape the hole because I was scared he dries out. Hope there is enough air till tomorrow. We are on the farm and in SA you don't go outside at night. So the chicken coop is off limits for me.

Yes, forgot to mention that, though I'm not convinced it matters given that many people give their poultry procaine penicillin and there is a blood stop product used on birds that contains benzocaine (Kwik-Stop Stypic Powder)... but better safe than sorry.

You really should get water on it now and make sure it has a hole to breath from. Of course your safety is more important, so if you can't go out for safety reasons, then don't.

No I'm a single mom with two boys age 4 and 5. Can't leave them alone in bed while going to the chicken coop. There are no lights and people gets killed on farms daily so as much as I'm aking to go outside, I have to think of the boys.

Here is the Stypic powder:

FWIW, I recently used it on a peachick with an umbilicus that was bleeding badly. It stopped the bleeding and the chick is still alive.
