Muscovy duck - eyes turned red.

It sounds like he isn't waterproof like he shoulf be, but that could be to do with not going in the pool- water helps stimulate the oil gland. Do you actually mean 30 litres or did you mean gallons? How often does he go in? Daily, A few times a week? Sounds like he has wet feather.

How do his legs look, bowed at all? Are his toes facing inwards or forwards when he walks?
He bathes twice a week, sometimes I sprinkle him with water and seems like he does not like it. He slowly runs away. Yesterday, I put him in the pool, he bathe for 10 seconds and got out. It took him hours to get dry and his eyes were very foamy. I will post a photo, however, by the time I brought a phone he cleaned his eyes a little bit. His legs are bowed a little and his right foot is facing inwards, when he walks. The pool can take more than 30 -40 liters (depends on the rainwater) I usually put.

Hello! The mix is custom made and it contains seeds that I wrote earlier (cracked corn, triticale, sunflower seeds and wheat). I did not buy it in the store, there is a man on the market that prepares the mix whenever I need it. I have noticed that my drake gets tired form time to time, which worries me. He walks slower, and cannot always follow his girls, so he rather stands on one spot or lays down. I have talked to the vet about it and he said, that he might be overweight, but he never saw the animal in person. He also said that ducks are hardy animals, he is not sure what is happening with my ducks. I cannot ignore them and their situation. There has to be something I can do or change to help them. The bucket can take 6 liters of water and I fill up the pool with 30 liters of water.
There is one more thing about my drake. He does not like to bathe very often either. And when he gets wet he does not dries himself quickly. Sometimes it takes hours for him to do it.

I have never had a Muscovy with a niacin deficiency but I would think just like other ducks they could def come down with it if not given a form of niacin from hatch. All my waterfowl always have gotten Nutritional yeast over their feeds even mama raised ones.
I have never use Nutritional yeast before. Can I overdo it by giving them vitamins and Nutritional yeast? Can you recommend me a manufacturer from which I can order on Amazon?

Can you post some pictures of their eyes?
Do they have water deep enough to really get their heads in and clean their eyes out good? Pool also? A lot of time foamy eyes can mean not water sufficient to wash their heads. You can also put some Apple Cider Vinegar into their bucket of water. 1-2 Tab per gal is enough to kill certain bacteria but won't sting the eyes. What bedding are you using? just wondering if something they are around can be causing irritation?
Her eyes are usually blue, but her left eye changed its color. Drake with foamy eyes.

For their bedding I have used to use straw, and now I am using hay with sedge.
Thank you.

Amazon is a good place to order Nutritional yeast I’ve be ordered from them NOW is a good brand. I’ve seen a lot worse foamy eyes before. Might try some ACV in a bucket of water that can clear up foamy eye. 1 tablespoon to 1 gal of water. I’ve only ever seen solid white Muscovy with blue eyes I had 3 at one time all died of old age. None of my other Muscovy have blue eyes. I wouldn’t think adding 1 tab of NY to 1 cup of feed would cause any problems. I see niacin is in the vitamins your giving. How old is your drake? It does sound like he may have a niacin deficiency with walking slow and foot turned. Or he may have had one at one time. Possibly when a young duckling?

Thank you for your reply. My drake is 3 years old. When he was younger he was limping. Even today when he walks across a terrace he limps sometimes. There is one more thing, he likes to jump on my terrace too. The terrace is about 20 cm from grass. After he jumps on it, he limps. But when he walks on grass, he does not, although he is slow.

Is that the product you have recommended me? Can you please recommend me some dehydrated food for ducks too? Thank you.

Sometimes when they jump onto something solid like cement they can hurt themselves. My Muscovy drake decided to jump down from the pool instead of using the ramp and limped around for a week. Their legs just aren't as sturdy as they need to be for what they do.
As for dehydrated food are you talking about poultry feed? depends on your location as to what's available.
Mazuri makes an excellent duck feed and there are other brands like Purina who make a feed for ducks.
How is his eyes looking?
