Muscovy ducks gender?

Even though I have had Muscovy since 2004 It can be really hard to sex them but I am going by leg size and looks like their legs are set pretty far apart under their body. My females legs are set so close together they about step on their own feet when walking those who have females muscovy don't see this with their females?
I raised one inside because his mama didn't want him and I swore he was female until around 3.5 months. I was wrong. lol

This morning, they were separeted for about 20 mins, and when they saw each other again abd were excited, I definitely heard one of them trilling in a soft, "childish" voice... I think it was the 'brown' one....

I don't see any drake feathers (the curly feather on their tail). But the best way to tell for ducks is by their sound. Females are a loud quack, with many other sounds too. Males whisper, it sounds like a frog or raspy like they have a cold. If you are unsure on their sounds it is helpful if you upload a video for us to hear them.

If they are both pretty loud you have 2 females...

Did they by any chance say if they were vent sexed or by sex linked color because of the parents colors? Do you by any chance know what color the parents were? They both carry the chocolate gene which if they both are supposedly female it makes me wonder if maybe their color is sex linked.

They told me they were vent-sexed. No idea about the parents :(

Do you have any other Muscovy? Is there a reason you wanted females?

They are absolutely gorgeous, btw. Now, they do look like drakes to me, but I have been wrong more often than not when it comes to pictures. Main reason I am saying this is their caruncles being quite well developed. My females barely have any at this age.
I don't have any other muscovy ducks. I want at least 1 female in order to have ducklings and eggs. I feel like the brown one is a female...

Thank you very much :)
They are 3 months old. The white one has always been much bigger, and had thicker legs. Also, the white one is always more active. Now, the difference in size is much smaller - the white one is only a bit bigger. They make the same sound... no puffing, sounds like a female trilling sound when she is scared/excited.
If they are both trilling and not huffing, you have 2 females!

Males and females may declare their voice at 3 months but will certainly be in full voice by 4 months. Males dont trill and then go on to huff and puff. If your ducks are trilling now as I thought you said, they are female. The female trilling is quite different from young duckling chirping!!
Yes, they definitely sound like mature females (which I had in the past) when excited/scared!
No puff at all when excited/scared.
So, I guess the breeder was right after all... even though all that time I was completely sure that the 'white' one, which has always been much bigger, is a male....

I actually caught one of my drakes, when he was much younger, trilling... Threw me for a loop, as I was sure he was male, then got all depressed over it. He's now huffing and stuff and growing into his caruncles nicely and is much larger than the females. Unsure how old he was at the time, maybe 2 months?

Sorry, don'r mean to confuse even more, lol!
