Hi everyone, this is my first day. I love ducks and have bred quite a few different breeds over the years. At the moment I have three lovely, spoilt muscovy girls, Ooby Dooby, Angie and Roxanne, but i have a large family of wild ducks who have made my yard their home, We have the Grey Teal or Maned geese, and the Pacific Black ducks. They are very trusting and friendly and each year they bring me their babies who grow up and do the same. This time of year we feed about thirty ducks twice a day because of the drought and the bushfires, there isn't much feed around, and there's about the same number of Galahs and native Bronze Wing Pigeons and Rosellas, plus numbers of magpies, and lorikeets. Breakfast time in particular gets very loud, but I love it. They have all become family and get along fine with the muscovy girls. Over the years I have bred Crested, Kayuga, Buff Orpingtons, Silver Appleyard, Swedish Blue, plus the usual Khaki and Muscovy. but I have no drakes at the moment because even though the girls keep going broody, I don't want Muscovy ducklings, especially boys.

I pick my names based on the first name I called them when I fell in love with them. Speedy because I chased her all over a parking lot after driving my car over her calling her speedy gonzalez. Sugarbaby cause she was my sugar... beedee was already named but she was called Bradley, then baby duck and then BD for short.

My other girls that hopefully I'll be able to get back someday were Isabella, Donella, and sodapop. Isabella just seemed like an Isabella, Donella made this noise when I first got her that sounded like Donald duck when he was mad, researched female version of Donald and got Donella. Sodapop was supposed to be male and named after sodapop from the outsiders.

Breakfast time at your yard looks pretty much like at my little backyard, but instead of ducks I have wild pigeons of 2 different kind and many other little birds that join my hens & rescue pigeons for breakfast and afternoon treats. I have 2 muscovy ducklings, that were given to me few months ago; I'm sure one of them is a female because she started to lay eggs about 2 weeks ago, the other one is a little younger and I am not sure about the gender.
So far, If they are both girls, I may named them Grace & Franky :))
I'm pretty concerned because the one lying started to limp few days ago, and I checked her but don't see any injury ... Also I would love to let them out of their pen at least an hour a day but I'm scare that they fly away, I may say I live in urban space and my little backyard is a tiny farm. I grow some veggies, herbs and fruit as well as ornamental plants, a small chicken coop and run that currently house 5 hens and a rooster( but can house 12). a tiny duck coop an run with its tiny pond. and a 30 gallon pond with fishes and aquatic plants . Blessings

They love to fly. Why not clip one wing on each that’s how I keep mine inside their half acres we are surrounded by woods not safe at all to be out of the fence. Living where you are is another risk of them flying into someone’s back yard where dogs are. Clipping is just better. Love to see pics when you can.
