My Muscovy is laying now, and I think she has about 5 or so eggs in her chosen "nest" area. Today, though, my son went out to refill her water, and being skittish, she started flapping around in their run. My son then saw an egg laying by the food dish (out in the open, away from her other eggs) and it was broken. The female then began pecking at it, apparently eating it. Unfortunately, I was at work until 8pm, so haven't had a chance to go check and see what's going on. My questions:
1. Is it possible that she dropped her egg right there due to being frightened, or was that just where she chose to lay today?
2. Do ducks tend to eat their eggs, or was she just ticked off?
3. Are ducks like chickens where, if they taste an egg, they'll start breaking/eating them all?
This is all new to me as you can tell.
TIA
