Muscovy hatching 10 days early

Another update...looks like we have twins in 1 egg! It did not look like it had a double yolk when I set it. And the peach tinted egg has a much smaller less active baby, wondering if it will survive.
What an adventure this is turning out to be! We finally got the layette for Niblet last week, but the baby diapers won't stay on, the neck hole seems too big and his feet keep getting stuck in the belly part. He is growing so fast that he is fitting in the largest diaper in the set.

lol I had to laugh sorry his neck hole is too big and his feet keep getting stuck in the belly part. I had the same problem with my ducks harness when i first got them, Now when i pull them out and look at them i can't believe he was ever that tiny.

Got another update...day 22 and 3 of the eggs look very full and I hear tapping in them, I really think they sent me 3 mallard eggs and 1 muscovy since the peach tinted egg has a baby that is far behind in development but very active now. I guess I'll know in a few days.

Well, I know for sure now they sent us the wrong eggs again! We just had a pip! There is only 1 egg that looks like it might be a muscovy. Going to have to find homes for them.

You may not want to get any more eggs from these folks again. You'd think they would have learned the first time, but apparently not....

I hope the one muscovy does hatch!

I contacted the seller and this is the response I got: "That cannot be true! The eggs I sent you were from the Muscovy pen! There was absolutely NO chance of a mix up, as we do not have any other breeds of ducks on the farm. I'm sorry but I don't give refunds for hatching eggs, and my ad also stated that the eggs are sold "as is". I normally don't give free eggs either because I've never had a complaint of someone getting the ducks they weren't supposed to get, just a few that didn't get anything to hatch at all, so the fact that you got anything to hatch is a plus. There's not much more I can do, and I've told you that. If you send me a photo of the babies - all of them - to my email address [email protected], I could tell you for sure if they are Muscovy or Mallard, and if they are Muscovies, for some reason that even now I cannot tell you they hatched a bit early."

I sent them this picture of the mallard from the first batch of eggs they sent and will take pictures as soon as the others hatch.

"Thanks for sending it. Let me know when the others hatch, I'm curious to see them. I still can't understand how they could have hatched so early. Mallard eggs are green. Muscovy eggs vary from off white to pure white to green (the chocolates that I made sure not to send you). The one in the pic you sent below of the first one IS a Mallard. If you need to rehome it, I'd recommend using craigslist or possibly even featherauction.com. It is 100% free to use, no fees to pay, and if you ask enough for the duckling, you might even get the money back that you paid for it."

So he is saying he doesn't have mallards but you got a mallard duckling from and egg he sent you, by the way that is a cutie are you keeping it? I'm thinking a mallard snuck into their muscovy pen and deposited an egg just to throw them off and confuse everything.

That looks like a Rouen to me. Not even a hybrid. And, Rouens aren't good fliers, so one being on his farm without knowing it would be hard to believe. And he sent you several of these eggs, too. Sorry you can't keep them.
