Muscovy aren't typically mottled so my guess is you have a mule. Very cute though!
And in order to get barred ducklings, you need 2 copies. So your hen and at least one drake carry recessive barred genes

I only have muscovy ducks and no wild ducks visit our property to my knowledge. Not even near entering it. I'm out there all the time and keep a close eye on things. It's funny because you can see where the wild type spots would be over the entire body, on the dark and light side. It also has classic muscovy beak shape. I can't honestly totally rule that out, I guess. Since I'm not 100% in control of the outside environment. I love a mystery. I think I might keep this one, just to see how it feathers out. I try to keep my flock to only six ducks max, so keeping a duckling is rare. Cross your fingers for me that it's a hen, there can only be ONE, drake that is...
Again if anyone has run across this duckling pattern or have information about it, I'd love to see pics or hear about it.
Thanks.

Hi! I think my babies might be Muscovies, so I thought it would be good to post a pic here. They are a little feisty at times, which I don't mind because I enjoy that part of their personality, but most of the time they're either sitting next to me relaxing, or else finding things to do to entertain themselves. When the black and white one starts poking me and pulling on me a little too hard, I tell it to stop, and it quits right away. And it's so much fun to watch them dive into their swimming pool, then jump out, run around the yard, and dive into their pool again. They're so sweet and they really are a lot of fun. I've enjoyed going through this thread, seeing the photos and reading the posts.

O WOW, I've wanted calls.  Now that I'm in love with scovies that's what it will be from here on:love   for me though.

Sorry, but I've got to ask what is a hookbill?  When I googled it I saw a parrot and a duck.

Oh the breed is a Dutch hookbill, their bills droop down, and the bills are blueish. Very funny looking ducks!

Mummy took the babies out for the first time. 7 ducklings, out of 14 eggs. Two died just after hatching (I think she crushed them)
