Hi Janie Hall!
Saw you were from Shawneetown. My mom is from a farm on Big Creek. I grew up hearing about all our kin folk back home. Grandpa even had a cave on his property that the cousins and I explored one summer trying to get out of the heat and humidity. Good looking muscovies!

A hinny is a backwards mulard. It's what happens when a mallard derived drake catches your muscovy hens. A mulard would be a muscovy drake over mallard derived species.
And you're not stupid according to my book. :)
Never heard if that! Oh well! Good to know. Since I don't have any Muscovy anything I guess I am safe! LOL

Hi! I think my babies might be Muscovies, so I thought it would be good to post a pic here. They are a little feisty at times, which I don't mind because I enjoy that part of their personality, but most of the time they're either sitting next to me relaxing, or else finding things to do to entertain themselves. When the black and white one starts poking me and pulling on me a little too hard, I tell it to stop, and it quits right away. And it's so much fun to watch them dive into their swimming pool, then jump out, run around the yard, and dive into their pool again. They're so sweet and they really are a lot of fun. I've enjoyed going through this thread, seeing the photos and reading the posts.

You've got two beautiful Muscovies there. What are their names?

Oh the breed is a Dutch hookbill, their bills droop down, and the bills are blueish. Very funny looking ducks!
WAY COOL! I decided that was what you were referring to and looked at lots of pictures last night. Be sure to post some when you get them.

You have some beautiful muscovy ducks there!

I rescently got two crested ducks from an auction trying to introduce them to my 4 other ducks a little each day.

I can't get over crested ducks and that little "poof" on their head! I've found that my Muscovy hens adapt fine to other ducks and even chickens. My drake.....eh.....he tolerates them. He's a bit territorial now anyways. Tis' the season.....
