Muscovy keepers share your pics!

They are precious. keep an eye on them around your chickens, drakes have been know to mate with hens and injure them even kill them.

our three little boys....not so little anymore. we rescued them as couple week old babies and now they are as big as our 4 yr.old grandaughter..so friendly and loveable. hope they get along with the in coming chickens. Drake, Kenny & Doug as cute but awkward youths...

They are beautiful drakes & I agree w/Miss Lydia... keep an eye on them since you don't have any girls for them.

you need to post some pics of your birds.

Thanks for that advice.I have read that and had planned on keeping the chickens secure and supervised. We do have female muscovys come and go in the yard but none have stayed and our boys do not follow them when they leave. They are surrounded by mallards and I have yet to see them attempt to mate with them. Would they even try that? I had not planned on keeping these boys after they grew up and could fend for themselves but my husband said that they have the sweet life and they are not leaving...lol. We need to find them some girlfriends.

they are probably very dependant on you now and probably wouldn't make it on their own. I have rescued at least 5 muscovies and they would have starved if i hadn't brought them home I'm sure some make it but when food is scarce during winter months and these birds don't migrate there isn't anything for them to eat. Yes they would try to mate with the wild mallards but their off spring will be mules or non fertile. If you get them girlfriends expect some fights to begin for top drake as male muscovies don't like to share. I have 2 Muscovy drakes and the only thing keeping them from fights now is one is old and the young one hasn't tried to become top drake yet. But I caught my young drake on top of my gander this afternoon so he is getting braver everyday. I would have never thought my gander would have let him get that close. good grief.

Hi! I kept 2 Muscovies over the winter and though this female failed to hatch any eggs last year, she's got a bumper crop right now! Nine little fluff balls.
Can't see them all here, but they are cute! Daddy is black and white.
