Clipping line. I actually clip both wings it just looks better to me. I have clipped one wing and had a few of my girls use their claws and wing not clipped to actually climb over the fence [wooden] to forage outside of their half acre. So that is when I started doing both wings.

I drew the orange line - so is that ok? My drake jumped and climbed on the hardware cloth on the door this morning when I went to open it. I was like calm down buddy. He looked like a monkey when he tried to grab the top of the kennel that houses their pool.

Aren't they funny, a few times I tried to break my Muscovy from brooding I would find her hanging off the hardware cloth on the door where she had had her nest. So many times I finally said the heck with you want to brood all summer go right ahead and she actually did. I trimmed my drakes wing for the first time in his life about a month ago he was getting up on the top roost and shooting poop all over the wall behind him so now only the chickens can get back on the top roost. My drake is now 7ys and he has never tried to fly he would never leave his girls.

I don't trim their wings. They will fly around and stay on the property. For mine there's no problem with them flying around. We have electric fencing, but it's not 100% predator proof, so I want them to be able to get away if needed.

Our place is similar. I have call ducks and they fly but usually stick close to home... they know who feeds em..

Not everyone is able to do that. I live in very wooded terrain lots of preds I'd rather mine stay inside their fencing.

Some of mine will fly over a fence into the other chicken area to hang out or lay eggs in the right spot. The chickens are used to it.

Everything here currently runs all over here. Ducks, chicken, turkeys.lol We're almost finished converting my barn into coops and runs but it'll be a bit more time before its finished.

How high will they fly? I am worried they will get up on the roof of buildings and not come down?
