So sorry for the losses. I hope you catch it.

I don't recall if relocating (unless VERY far) is a good idea with foxes. I would check on the predators thread just in case. I'd hate for you to catch it, relocate it and have it return to it's home range. Also, if you relocate, take care where, you don't want to pass the problem on to someone else.
In Storey's Guide, they recommend 2 strands of barbed or electric wire along the top of the fence and make sure it's flush with the ground because they can squeeze through.
We live in n. BC Canada - it's all forest surrounding us. It should be easy enough once caught to relocate him down a logging road. The fox never got into my enclosures. I'm sure he must've startled Rosa and she fell over the wrong side right into his jaws :( I've had chickens out here for 15+ yrs and this is the first year we've ever had a problem. He also got 2 roosters in addition to Rosa this week.

Thanks everyone, for the sentiment. I'm still pretty sad.

Oh my, that one is beautiful. Not sure if it is just a play of light or not but love the multi-shades of brown.
No she actually looks just like that :)

Thanks all I have been working on the blues and chocolates for blue fawns also. I lost most my hens last year to foxes so had to restart and figured I would make a project out of it. I finally have some really nice solid chocolates and almost solid lavs :)

I'm so very very sad and depressed. I just got my beautiful Muscovies and somehow a fox took my lovely Rosa. We were just getting to know each other and she almost let me pet her yesterday. She liked to sit on the top of the 6' fence surrounding her pen. She never came down outside of it, but somehow a stupid fox got her. Only thing I can think of is that he startled her and she fell on the wrong side. All I found this morning were a few feathers and fox prints. I'm so bummed out. They are not that easy to find out here either. Stupid *^&$*@#&%*#@$& fox. He took one of my 'dinner-table' roosters last week. We are picking up a trap tomorrow in the hopes we can catch and relocate it. But my beautiful Rosa is gone
