Muscovy keepers share your pics!

cheekychick, Your Scovies are looking sweeter every day! Adorable!

Nice Scovies, CR ! Are you still breeding those dark ripples?
I love how your Scovy is sitting on the round of ice that you dumped fm the pool in the winter pic. Those rounds do seem to accumulate during midwest winters.

No sadly I've had to cut back on my Muscovies
(due to working) and no longer have the ripples
or self blues.
I'm down to one pair and one trio and a few youngins' from this year.

I have quite a pile of those big "ice cubes" by the end of winter!

"Make an IGLOO!" lol.

Again... I am sorry for such a childish outburst. I'll go back to my corner now.

Awwww, that's too bad. He must be a little younger than the others orrrrrr slower to mature if he just now began hissing. He really doesn't look much bigger than the girls in the pic's you posted. Maybe he will be a little drake and get to fly with the girls.
big_smile.png
He will be SURE to like that!
wink.png

I had one drake who kept practicing flapping his wings and sure enough he was the only one who was able to get up to the roof to spend time with the girls. HEEEE was one happy drake!

I dont know why I havent asked this before! - I am curious on what the difference between rippled and barred is, and what you would class mine as?

Cheers

Gosh there are so many beautiful scovies on here

I just thought I would update you on my babies. I find them to be the most beautiful of all... but I am the mother

The white guy in there is a call duck, he just was lonley so I didnt think it would hurt to be in with them. Seeing as how they are bigger than him!

cheekychick,

This is fm Muscovy Centrals Web Site on Genetics. Look at the bottom of the page where it explains rippled vs. barred.

http://www.muscovyduckcentral.com/genetics.html

Your Wild One and her ducklings are barred.

I have noticed that white head seems to enhance the barring at each molt. Charlotte is more barred now than when we first got her. It would be interesting to find out if others with barred Scovies who also carry the white head gene have seen this manifest.
I think that my blue mom, Arwen, would be considered rippled but I'm not sure. The edges of her feathers are darker but with a brown tint so maybe she is laced.

She's finally starting to look a bit more together soooo hopefully in the next month or so I can get a better pic of her in her new feathers.

Victorialands, that Call is just adorable!

Your Scovies are really growing! You are allowed to think your Scovies are "the most beautiful"

I was looking at my Scovy kids today and thinking how "cute" they were esp. when I brought out their snack of fresh thawed peas and they crowded around me...... all 30 of them

along with 4 chooks who think they should "hang out" with the ducks.
