Muscovy keepers share your pics!

They do feather in much more slowly than chickens, so it may be that they are just now growing those feathers in. So that's probably normal, but if you could post a pic, there are a lot of helpful folks here.

As far as deficiencies go, ducks need extra niacin. The lack can cause leg problems. I crush up niacin pills and add to their drinking water when they are young. Do a search on niacin in this subforum, and you'll find good info on dosages. I'd tell you myself, but I've forgotten. (Embarrassed!) It's been a while since I've had babies... I'd put about half a pill into each waterer. But I can't remember exactly how I worked that out.

I noticed this morning that my 2 female ducks have started to get black feathers on their chest!

I thought they were going to be blue on the chest with this latest moult, not black

Is this common with the blue ducks?

Heres a pic I took of my 2 ducks with one od the drakes. The drake still hasnt changed colour with his moult, and if you look through the mud on the ducks chests, you can see the black feathers starting to peek through

I will try and get a better pic soon - weather is very windy and drizzly here and ducks didnt appreciate being out in it to have a pic taken

cheekychick, That's normal for a lot of blues. Their heads, necks and possibly the front of their chests will be dark blue/black once molted out to adult feathers. Wait till they molt out all the way to see what color they really are going to be.

Do you think they could look like the Mamma duck on the right hand side of my pic just up there ^^ with the Ram in it? I just noticed she is quite dark on the chest
