Good for you, any snow yet?The way I have set it up, there won't be any jumping.
But thanks lots.
I have two more walls to do on my duck coop, I don't like working on this in the cold "brrrrrr" but at least the rest has been finished.

Or you can buy heated buckets. I have been using them for about 4 years now and can't imagine not having any, the chickens use them too.A little bit of snow....and water is freezing more...... My pond has been frozen over for more than a week now, but I am starting to have problems with my poultry waterers.
I was just thinking through how in the world I am going to heat the duck water all winter long.
Maybe I can skip making a roof/shelter over the waterer, and instead take a feed bucket, nail it to a fence post, and have the extension cord plug into the water deicer cord inside the feed bucket...that would keep it all dry, and still easy to reach the cords to unplug it etc.
Ooh!
Brilliant! I just thought that all through while typing it in, I think that will work perfectly!
I have feeder houses that I made out of scrap lumber I run the extension cords up off the ground using large cup hooks, then where they plug into the buckets cordI wrap with gorilla tape everything is out of the weather except the cord which are 12 guage out door cords. All plugs are under cover so not exposed to elements. And I wrap the plugs to keep anyone from chewing on them mainly my goose the ducks are too short to reach them but my goose will chew anything. I use heated dogs bowls for the FF I feed the flock one thing I like is that they are on a thermostat so when it gets up to 35 they cut off.But I still need to put the plugs in a safe and dry spot.
I have tried heated dog bowls and did NOT like them, I haven't tried heated buckets.
. What I would see in my young drakes is they seem to walk and lay down then get up and do it again where the ducks would be all over the place.
Since you have open areas for your ducks with a nice body of water fighting would probably be minimal, fighting here usually looks like a wrestling match the only time there usually blood is when they get up against the fence and hit their wings. But anyway I hope it's a duck too.Wow gosh Miss Lydia... I sure do hope it`s a girl. Two drakes....![]()
I`m gonna take some pictures today and post them. Maybe you can tell if it`s a boy or a girl.
And if it`s a drake , i hope it will work out just fine. No fighting....
