Check this out. From reading ( I am not new to muscovy ducks but I am new to genetics and in the learning process of how it all works with this breed) BUFF is a double blue with a complete chocolate. They can only come from chocolate birds

Genotype is genetic make up eg p+ p+ etc as Goldiez stated, Phenotype is physical make up ie colour, size etc

All of the genetics stuff confuses me a bit. I Have a buff duck, and all the parents were black and white pied ? I picked up three ducks from a lady earlier this fall. Both ducks that hatched all the young were black and white pied, and the drake as well. I purchased three ducks from her. A white, with a cream colored cap. A black barred, pied. And a buff ripple.

One thing i know about scovies is they can have hidden colours, ie; recessive genes.
