How funny. She'll bathe when she's ready. LOL I am amazed at how big they are, did they like the tub? the 2 that fell in? You are letting them come outside now right? They look plenty big enough to handle the cold weather, I'd give them the choice anyway. So precious..My poor duck is looking so dirty, so I really wanted her to take a bath.
Today was the warmest it as been in awhile, we got up to the 30s F and had some snow.
It is supposed to get colder again tonight, so I though 'now or never.'
We put a tub of water at the base of the ramp, opened the pop door and............
She thought we were nuts. She did not want to go outside! It was a little windy, but not super bad.
We caught her up and put her out by the water by herself.....she walked right back into the coop
We tried to herd her and the babies out......that didn't work either.
We finally caught her and put her out and then put out the babies too.
She walked around for a bit, she drank from the tub, two different babies fell in the tub......
But she didn't bathe!
We finally gave up and let her take the babies back to the coop.

I wouldn't let them out and leave them, I know this year one of our members had a gosling attacked by Magpies so maybe not a good idea yet. I was mostly thinking about getting the acclimated to temps. didn't realize you have those preds to worry about. Once big as mama and feathered in completely they should be fine, they can't carry off adults Muscovy's can they?I am still scared to let them out without me watching. They look so baby like with their fluff, but they are almost as big as mom.![]()
They are too big for magpies to eat them? Aren't they?
I am way too scared that one will go outside and then forget how to get back in the coop and freeze to death.
I am an obviously very big scaredy cat.
