Muscovy keepers share your pics!

Does anyone have success getting your free range Muscovy ducks to lay in boxes?
I use the medium sized plastic dog houses with a bunch of hay inside. My hen seems to like it quite well but won't share. Another has used the shelter house and a third escaped and is nesting under my deck.

Hm, I'll have to watch Craigslist for cheap dog houses :) Thanks Refamat!

I don't have a deck, but everyone I know with Muscovy ducks gets at least one clutch under their deck each year. Hopefully they all hatch!

I finally found 2 new hens for Miguel! And I have 8 Muscovy eggs in the incubator for an Easter hatch!

This is Carmen (bl/wh) and Lolita (bl/wh). Lolita's feathers are a bit rough looking, but we'll get her all cleaned up!

Carmen's pretty iridescent feathers.

Lolita looking a little frazzled.

And my handsome drake Miguel. He was so excited when I introduced the girls. He had been so depressed after we lost Rosa.

I just love his little curly crest :)

They are beautiful and so happy for Miguel!!

Has anyone tried hatching Muscovy eggs with a broody hen? any success??
I had a broody bantam start sitting on some Muscovy eggs but I gave her some chicken eggs instead because I felt 35 days was a little much for her. She probably would have stuck it out though as determined as she was.

My babies were raised around the chickens so then they would follow their lead. They were laying in the hen boxes for about 2 months. Now they have taken to laying in the dog house I placed on their island.

I bought a floating duck house (doesn't float too well, turns out) but my ducks never went in there, so now the sheep use it. I'll try the dog house :)

Just went out today, got me some pictures and want to share!

Ok so here is Charlie, around six months old!

Charlie with Gertrude, Olive, and Mildred!

This is Gertrude, she has been laying for 10 days now, but the weather is too unpredictable so I have been taking her eggs! She give me the stinky eye every time I go to her nest.... Olive on the right! She is a little shy and is always in the background..

And this is Mildred, with Olive hiding in the back!

Olive profile!

There you go, my ducks. Can't wait to see the little ducklings they will hatch out! Come April I am getting Khaki Campbell duckling as well, and these girls and guy will have next buddies.

I know, aren't they beautiful! They look like they have makeup on, and everyone of them have a different personality too. Gertrude, is the caring mother, Mildred is Miss Bossy, and Olive is oh so timid! Charlie well, he is a goofball and had no care in the world!
