Bad timing guy. Think about it. It's optimum to have 7 ducks for each drake. Always extra drakes around. Now, it's the start of breeding season. After feeding all winter, hens are laying eggs to help recover thier keep. Plus at this exact point, most are sitting on any eggs not pulled, brooding them. Then there are 2-3 more clutches before the end of season. So a hen now is good to go to produce some 7 dozen eggs or ducklings. The numbers just don't work out to sell a mature female at this point for $10, $20, $30 even $50 do they?Iv been keeping an eye on craigslist, but all i find are drakes and eggs. *shrugs* guess im just going to have to wait![]()
Soooo, unless you run into a catastrophic situation, chances are your most realistic options are to get eggs or a duckling to raise or wait til late fall or winter when the breeding season is over for culls.
