Working on the duck coop today.... I will have more room now

Duck math 1+1=20

My re-purpose chicken/duck coop. We had this old playhouse laying around its been here since my oldest DD was 1or2 she's 15 now. It held up well and stayed pretty warm over the winter. We just put a tarp over it...


Total cost $50.00 everything is used or scrap except for the base.

Dh was given a 50 foot roll of hardware cloth from work. The dog kennel was free..


DD names the coop Adobo which is a Filipino chicken dish... She named the duck coop Balut which is a Filipino duck egg snack

finally now I have to put panels over the hardware cloth



We have buried hardware cloth @ 18 inches on all 4 sides of the duck coop


I am putting solexx over the chicken door to bring more heat in for winter..



duck door - sliding door 2 foot tall by 3 1/2 foot wide





I used an old table top for the pop door

Kierys, you know if you built lift back brooder boxes to sit in those windows you could snagg eggs without going in the coop - and add more room inside....

That's what I wanted to do, I was gonna use a deck box..I was gonna buy 2 and attach it to both chicken/duck coop. Dh & I butt heads over everything so I have to find a way to order them & install them myself, before he gets home from work

At this point we have moved her 3x I am afraid she might reject the eggs. But I will probably do it after this clutch hatches.

Well since you asked.....

I had CCLBs and FBCMs come that I popped under a duck broody Sat.
Red Bourbon turkeys come tommorow.
B/B/S Ameracunas, Combinations of Blue, Black and Coppers Marans, Wheaten Marans think come next week
project Chocolate/Mauve (choc w red lace) with a spontaneous silky feather mutation Ameraucanas Monday
and wheaten/blue wheaten sulmtalers in a month or so - have to time with them starting lay and broody ducks.
From exhibition quality stock, top lines and being brooded under.........scovies!@

I am DONE!!! DONE!! DONE! Except for finishing some new coops I guess. LOL@

So now fat, dumb, happy and BROKE. But I are contented.

Great minds think alike on those coop boxes. Nice tho, easy peasy to sanitize!

No, seriously, I'm done for the year - providing I get halfway decent hatches.
Next year I'll be busy hatching my own and building these flocks to start playing with.
Enough to keep me busy, happy, eggcited and occupied.
