Muscovy keepers share your pics!

Nope, magpies are not a problem at all with my adult Muscovy.

I do have the coop window all the way open to help them get used to the cold.
That's good and will help them feather in faster too. I'm going to have to look up Magpies are they about the size of a crow?

Magpies are about half the size of a crow but alot more troublesome. To smart for their own good and very bold.

A Magpie's body is maybe a little bigger than a crow, but about the same.

They are smart, and like to steal eggs.

They also steal the Muscovy food, and the Drake is not fast enough to catch them.

Goodness, we have the crows but they stay out of the yard. Do Mag pies go after hawks like crows will? at least they'd be good for something. I was really surprised when the BYC member said a Magpie had killed her gosling. I don't remember how old the gosling was though.

Alaskan,

You have some big magpies, they sound like the ones I used to see in Anchor Point. Down here they are smaller.

Nope, the magpies don't do anything helpful.

The crows and ravens are wonderful since they keep the billion raptors away.

This summer a murder of crows moved in (that is what they are called, right?) and this was the first summer I haven't had raptors circling my chickens.

But, I don't think I have seen them for the last month. Eek, I hope they haven't left me!

And yep on Anchor point, and our giant magpies....I ate breakfast at their senior center today.

I lived there in the seventies and eighties down at the Silverking Tackle Shop. My grandpa owned it back then.
