My drakes do raise their feathers on top of their heads too, I call it excitement does make them look like Elvis doesn't it? lol As long as he doesn't do that then go to nipping I'd say he's just happy to see you. My drake does it more when he see's my dh than to me. Something about male bonding I think![]()
My drake who was a holy terror since we had him in the house from hatch turned into a sex fiend when he turned 4 months old, only to me. He would fly through the air [no kidding] and jump on my back when I was walking he would climb my leg, he was treating me just like they do one of their girls, he over stepped his bounds big time, I did the same thing I'd treat him just like he was treating me or another drake would do and finally he got the message, he is a wonderful drake now at almost 3 yrs old, my other 3 drakes have never acted that way but they all were raised by their mamas too, Opie thought he was a human he now will nip and bite my dh's pants and arms when he is petting him but if he gets real carried away dh will discipline him. So your on the right track just need to teach the men how to do it too. I always have to remind my dh that he is stronger than opie and be careful not to hurt him [the mama in me] He loves Opie as much as I do. The Elvis touch is just pure Muscovy drake stuff when excited or just being drake. Mr Macho. He started doing it about the same time he started biting me. The biting stopped once I mounted him several times in an afternoon lol but the elvis thing stayed so I wasn't sure.
He also does it a lot to my boyfriends father.
Thanks heaps:-
