Muscovy keepers share your pics!

@Buck, i used layer pellets n fake eggs for month for my free range chickens when they were breaking eggs earlier than i could release in morn. my scovy had fire ants under her nest and was good as she and babies ate them. heard if layer not enough to also offer catfood.

I'm seeing weird in a mamma scovy.. she gets mad and does this really fast stamping/shuffle/running in place, as angry, as i catch n play wih her foster babies. she is down from eight to five ducklings qith her, as four somehow got up wall along and into tall water bucket, three drowning, one treasing while one was treading water. Would large woodpeckers attack ducklings??? i found local one now dead at foster mom ducks feet as she hissed and attacking, first day and just let ducks out before, babies having a blast.

another female has started setting her nest when gets cool.
feona my original scovy hen is hatchiing her huge clutch now (32 n more eggs before took some).

Two questions:
Is it possible to get eggs out from under a broody duck without a fight? My guess is no. Mine has two ceramic eggs but now she's decided I can't get near the nest. The only way I can see to get the eggs is just to drag her off.

Does anyone else have subterranean muscovies? I was out gardening and went to get a sprinkler out of one of my sheds and there's one of the muscovy hens dug under the shed. All I could see was her tail. She came out and I blocked off the hole. The hole was sort of there to start with so I'm not sure if she dug it or just hollowed it out. First time I've had a duck go underneath my shed!

I'd just reach under and take the egg. She might bite but it doesn't hurt at all.. or lift her up and take the eggs...

And if a hen is trying to get under the shed I'd just let her cause at least you know where the nest will be..

Okay, when my hubby gets home, I'll try lifting her and he can snatch the egg.

I don't think the hen is trying to nest under the shed, though maybe that's her goal. I've never had broody ducks before. Usually she just goes into the pekins pen and lays an egg in their house. My concern is her getting stuck—are ducks smart and cautious enought not to go in small holes where they can get stuck? I suppose maybe if I leave it uncovered it's a fairly good place to avoid predators. Just very spooky find a duck burrowed under ther shed! (Muscovy ducks are a whole new experience!)

one of my Scovy hens would climb my fence into my neighbors yard find the smallest crevice yndrr there deck and she had a nest of 6 eggs before I caught her in the act.. After I found that spot she would go inside an upside down rubber maid container and had a nest of 19 before she started sitting..

Ducks really are very clever. I'll uncover the hole and let her hide in there if she wants. I am continually amazed at the persistance of these birds when they decide to sit!

After much cooing, hissing and some persuasion, the duck gave up the egg. She still have two ceramic ones. I'm not looking forward to the constant battle, but I don't want her hatching any eggs. I did make a box for the other muscovy to lay in so hopefully she stays out of the Pekin pen. I'm sure I'll figure this out eventually.

My black female finally went broody.( again) She was one of the first to start laying this spring. I let her accumulate ten eggs and she started to sit. After a couple days I took all but six to limit the number a bit. She quit sitting and went and found a new location for a nest lol.. We are on location number 4-5 now.. I finally left her last one alone and let her lay what she wanted.. Well, she is now sitting on 25 eggs !
