Thank you, Miss Lydia. If I combine this with the fact we disrupted their routine, it's probably to be expected. I'll just try to be patient!I have 7 Muscovy ducks and got 1 egg yesterday so mine are in rest mode they seem to go strong on the laying then take breaks anywhere from 2-3 weeks. maybe that is what is going on with yours.
Yes, I know there's an outbreak of bird flu. However, I'm not too worried about that. Bird flu is contangious if your flock comes into contact with droppings from a wild bird that has the bird flu. It's kind of like heartworm in dogs—you have to have an infected dog, a mosquito bite that dog and then bite your dog immediately thereafter. It obviously happens, but it requires multiple steps. What makes the bird flu scary is when it hits factory farmed or even free range flocks, flocks being the operative term. If I recall right, you have quite a few ducks, so if one got it, it could spread. People with fewer ducks have less to worry about. However, as far as I can tell from reading about this, a predator has a much better chance of wiping out your flock than bird flu. There's really very little you can do to protect your ducks unless you pen them up all the time, so perhaps it's time to just enjoy your ducks and let go of some of the worry?I ask because of the Outbreak, here's a tracking system
