Muscovy keepers share your pics!

The high lately have been about 10 below zero. We hit a heat wave though and have 20 degrees today so we are all in T shirts and no coats

Ya'll are a hardy bunch

How are seeds bad for them?? What do u think they lived on before being domesticated?? Grains and different vegitation. All grain get broke down in the gizzard and crop. Mibe eat Acorns, Corn, Soybeans, Peanuts and oats all the time. In the winter all they will eat is whole grains and a little bit of layer. Other wise they will go without eating.

Muscovy ducks in the wild naturally eat small crustaceans, floating water plants ( such as duck weed/pond weed) grasses and microorganisms ( via dabbling)

I'll post a link for u

Seeds- ***
Some seeds can be given to ducks, like Millet or Sunflower seeds, as a limited rare special treat. While seeds can be used like grit, seeds do not digest well. Too many seeds can impact the crop and fill with material that can not be digested or passed. Then there's less room for good foods and digestive problems can occur. Remember that some seeds, like apple or cherry seeds, are toxic to ducks.

I am in Washington and I am not used to this. This is the coldest winter I have ever lived through.

I have a few different pens but I keep my chickens right outside my bedroom window as this way I can hear if any nocturnal predators are out there messing around.

This is my rooster, Skipper. He jumps up on my nest house door to let us know they would really like some corn. My other rooster, Scout hasn't figured out how to get up there to beg yet. Lol

The Muscovy's don't seem bothered much by it but I am supplying 100% of their food for the time being and they do like to eat.

That looks sooo cold! Bless you! You must have to go through a lot every winter up there. Sorry that it's even worse this year :( best wishes for it to warm up XD

This is our first Winter here. We were going to buy it but it has so many issues with the house that we are looking elsewhere. Plus they are not doing an adequate job of clearing the roads up here. And we have to trudge through the snow to feed them several times a day. At least I can throw corn out my window to the chickens. Lol

We have walkways dug in the snow to get to the rest of the animals but there are hills and it's rough. Here's to a early and beautiful Spring!!!! I am so done with snow.

El Nino has really caused havoc in the country this year. I am ready for spring too only 2 months away!!

Buck I ferment the seeds I feed. My chickens hang out under the wild bird feeders everyday scarfing up the Sun flower seeds the birds drop. They are feathered pigs.
