You need to do a search for the house duck thread. I don't know if anyone on this thread knows about house duck keeping, as I don't.My duck Aflac is attacking my feet everyday and waking me every night unfortunately he sleeps in my bed my fault I know does he think I'm his mom tell me more about ducks he lives in my house he's not potty trained and he's 8 months old

Love the nest box designI've reached Al's Quakery years back but they always seem to be out of stock of the ones I want. So years back, to start my own flock, I've went around state to random backyard flocks to look for gem birds in the midst. Anyhow, if you want every color, there are really only three genes and color in the USA responsible for the shades: Blue, Chocolate, Lavender. Every other color or shade is combination of.
We have so many muscovy sellers near Los Angeles area selling with rarely anyone willing to buy... that's how it works! Go figure.
I pretty much have to beg my friends and relatives to take the older ones to lower my feed bill because I couldn't sell them off when they were ducklings.

All very pretty
Al's on here somewhere but his name is escaping me right now. LOTS of wonderful info from him. LOVE his web page.I'm on a waiting list for Al's Quakery but the ones already on their way are from Country Hatchery. Had pretty much no luck finding any near us. I have a bunch of friends and customers that want some after listening to me go on and on about them. So hopefully we can have some babies and give them away. Then I'll have more people to talk ducks with! I really want a flock with every color!

I don't believe Lavender is an original color. The three base colors are White, Black and Chocolate http://www.muscovyduckcentral.com/genetics.html

LOL, I'm not going to dispute with a geekMy inner geek is going to have to dispute that. The link looks mostly correct in genetics but isn't the described in the best way ( simplified and alternative names) so you probably misunderstood it. In muscovyduckcentral.com, Lavender is listed as Self-Blue which is another name for it. They also have Cream, which is complete chocolate with a complete lavender (self-blue). I say complete because both genes are recessive and requires a complete copy to show with chocolate being a tricky sexlinked one and only requires one for females.
As for white, I personally do not treat it as a color. It's more of a color masking gene and can occur in any color. There's really only two major whites I recognize which are White-head/Canizie and Pie. Genetically, Pie is Pp+. Double( or complete) Pie will give PP which makes an entire bird white. Thus, any color can become Pie or completely white masking their color by not showing it (thus making it white). That's why I personally do not consider it a color genetically.
There are different names for colors, and it's hard to keep track of what each name is or means. It is easier to simply use the genetic form for the ducks if you know it.
